Carol: The Multidimensional Artist Weaving Nature, Craft, and Poetry into Immersive Experiences.

We spoke with Carol, an artist, poet, and craftswoman who defies categorization. She creates unique, immersive experiences ranging from soap-making workshops and nature explorations to book clubs and visual poetry sessions. A truly multidimensional artist, she brings beauty and a deep connection to nature wherever she goes.

-Hi Carol, your work spans many different creative fields—from poetry and visual arts to crafting and nature experiences. Can you tell us a bit about your journey until here?

First of all, thank you so much for inviting me, Bea! I am truly honored. I believe that poetry is not only found in books, and I am a strong advocate for that. My journey began by paying attention to the elements surrounding poetry and the impact they had on the body. In my case, I discovered that nature itself is poetry and that slowness, the body, and everything that emerges from it offer us a thousand poetic gestures. It's simply a matter of refining our ability to listen. So now, I try to approach everything from that perspective. Creativity in service of the heart, always.

-Your workshops and experiences are known for being unique and immersive. What inspires you when designing these experiences, and how do you approach blending different art forms with nature and everyday life?

What inspires me to create and lead experiences is the need to make space for contemplation and play! Play is essential—letting go of control and learning to receive nature's gifts makes me want others to experience it too. Receiving messages from trees, animals, the sky, the sun, the wind, and using our hands to bring that subtle world to life, that’s art for me. I focus on creating silent, safe spaces for expression, where creativity and sharing with others are key.

-We can see you are very connected with your community. What role does community play in your creative endeavors? How do you engage with others to inspire or influence your projects?

My community plays a vital role for me because I create for them. I pay close attention to how my creations are received, what they bring to others' lives, and how that, in turn, impacts me. That feedback loop is so important. I believe in the power of active, gentle listening. Being attentive, observing the group’s energy, asking if they need anything, and giving them the freedom to find comfort are key. When you feel comfortable, you flow. I love seeing the transformation in people before and after workshops or retreats, that alchemy is beautiful!

-Nature seems to be a central theme in your work and life. Can you share how nature influences your creative processes and how it shapes your daily life and artistic vision?

In my case, one of my main inspirations is the body (understood as part of nature) and everything it reveals—from what pain or discomfort might be communicating to the most spectacular sensations, like crying from emotion or getting goosebumps. The body is a book full of information. It's up to us whether we choose to read it or not.
